During the comprehensive evaluation, the therapist will review any questions from the patient intake paperwork and work to develop a rapport with our patients. The evaluation will consist of both formal and informal assessment of speech sounds, oral stability and postures for speech and breathing, expressive and receptive language skills, as well as a feeding observation. At the end of your appointment, your therapist will discuss the findings and plan of care recommendations. This may consist of referrals to additional providers to be a part of your treatment team, including an Ear/Nose/Throat physician, a dentist, an orthodontist, or an occupational or physical therapist. Having a collaborative team will lead to the best clinical outcomes!

Please bring the following to your first appointment:

  • A drink in a preferred cup

  • A crunchy snack (crackers, pretzels, chips)

  • A chewy snack (fruit leather/gummies, dates)

  • A snack with a spoon (yogurt, peanut/nut butter, applesauce)

Additionally, please bring a short video of your child sleeping in order to assess oral postures and nasal breathing during sleep.
