TELETHERAPY WITH PICKLETREE

How Does This Work?

Teletherapy sessions work just about the same way your regular session works. You’ll schedule your appointment with a therapist, at a time that works for the both of you. Then, when the time comes, you’ll log onto the video conference.

Teletherapy for a Busy Life

Teletherapy allows for maximum flexibility for you and your family’s busy schedule. You can choose a date and time that works best for you, while allowing you to stay in your own home. Additionally, teletherapy helps connect patients in rural or remote areas of Ohio, allowing them to gain access to therapy services that would otherwise not be available. Tele-therapists at PickleTree that specialize and have training in specific therapeutic approaches our patients need will have more availability for scheduling using this type of service model.

Interaction

Patients are able to interact with their therapist through a secure system and can interact with the therapist just as he/she would if it was an in-person session. The opportunities are vast: hands-on activities, interactive games, comprehensive evaluations and unique treatment plans. For our youngest patients, a parent, or other adult is on the end with the client providing cueing and any “hands-on” techniques that might be needed.

Teletherapy for Carryover of Skills

Skills developed during therapy are intended to be used outside therapy sessions, in the patient’s natural environments such as their home, school, and community settings. When this happens the therapist knows that something called ‘carry over’ has happened. Carry over is a key objective in nearly all therapy treatment plans.

Other Perks!

  • Fewer cancelled sessions due to illness of family members.

  • No need to worry about transportation concerns or making it to soccer practice on the other side of town after therapy.

  • Increases family involvement in treatment plan.

  • Some patients are more comfortable in front of a computer than with in-person therapy.

  • You can wear your jammies to your sessions :)

The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) has recognized teletherapy as an effective method of service delivery since 2005.
